Tae Chong
Consults: Dr. Chong is very particular about consults. He asks very particualar questions though and expects you to know all the answers immediately. He likely already knows that answer and is looking to pimp you. Here are the must knows:
- Previous surgical history and scar pattern. Does patient need evaluation for available vessels?
- Anticoagulation status and indications including NOACs, Heparin, antiplatelet
- Antibiotics and culture results
- Nutrition labs (albumin and pre-albumin)
Likes to be called before a complicated case to discuss plan.
Deep dermal Technique: Dr. Chong is very specific of how he likes deep dermal sutures. On your first throw, seed the knot down by pulling your needle driver down and towards you. Do a second throw in the same direction (ie. pull the needle driver towards you. Then the third time opposite and fourth time towards you.
Consent forms: Ensure that the consent form includes all relevant risk and alternatives of surgery. Or he will not start case and re-consent family member.
