IRWIN HAND (PEDS) Phalanx Fracture Pinning -Usually Ancef peri-op -Hand prep (not truly sterile) -Scrub with CHG sponge or Soap sponge -Alcohol to 4×4 boat and scrub hand up to 1010

-Non-sterile tourniquet with 1010 -Sub-sterile draping so 2x down sheets needed (1x for table and 1x over patient) -Towel out extremity and secure with 2x clamps -No gown, gloves only

-Reduce and pin -May cap K-wires with JURGAN pin ball and cut flush -Requires crank/screw driver to secure on K-wire

-Usually a few 4x4s over surgical site, sterile 2” cast padding + 2” fiberglass -Typically cast for 3 weeks then remove in clinic, then 3 additional weeks of no sports / rough housing -So 6 total weeks of no physical activity)
